Case Study: LIXAR LWAYVE
OVERVIEW
Lixar Lwayve is a contextual, curated audio assistant intended to augment event experience by providing recommendations based on physical location and time, as well as the ability to submit crowdsourced content on demand. Lixar worked with Ampli2de™ to devise its design strategy and execute the creation of a complex, versatile admin interface for the web-based Lwayve portal. Intended to go beyond simply an playback audio channel, the interal Lwayve admin portal offers operational insight, is measurable, monetizable and driven by a proximity-guided real-time data-rich engine.
Lixar was chosen by Evenko to be a Technical Partner of the Osheaga Music and Arts Festival in Montreal, and launched the O-Audio module powered by Lwayve in the Osheaga App. Similarly, the Halifax Pop Explosion (X-Audio) and MegaPhono (Mega-Audio) music festivals also integrated Lwayve into their mobile app ecosystem. Festival-goers were able to receive real-time audio updates about events, and learn where the best spots were in Montreal, Halifax and Ottawa, as well as listen to music and curated artist info.
Ampli2de™ worked alongside the Lixar mobile and marketing teams to explore various experience paradigms in order to improve the simplicity and efficiency of the mobile Lwayve UI.

BY THE NUMBERS
External researchers conducted on-site interviews at Osheaga and Halifax Pop Explosion to gather user feedback for the admin and mobile application from Lwayve content curators and festival audiences.
In order to visualize our hypotheses, the team has built high-fidelity interactive prototypes for the internal and external product UIs in Sketch / Invision and Axure RP.
The internal admin interface required 72 screen mockups for desktop and tablet users, as well as 91 editing overlays that allow direct manipulation of programs, segments and clips.
Our team co/facilitated discovery workshops alongside Lwayve product owners, marketing personnel and presented the resulting direction to senior stakeholders.
Ampli2de™ has trained program, product and technical management team members on the process involved in typical product UX design cycles.
We led the internal admin UI team, worked alongside a Lixar in-house researcher and were contributors to creating concepts for the public mobile iPhone and Android apps.
